Hello! I’m Emily/Little Lady Luscious. Thank you for finding me and clicking on this page to find out more about me and how Burlesque Rocks came about.
Burlesque Rocks is a small yet perfectly formed class of burlesque and rock lovers. We have a giggle and play with dance techniques while listening to some awesome music. I began my own burlesque journey in New Zealand back in 2009. The moment I stepped into that class I was hooked. I joined the Hootchy Kootchy Burlesque Classes in Auckland and did a least four of their courses and showcase nights before I returned to the UK in 2010. I immediately looked for a similar style of course and community in London. I struggled. The ‘Emily logic’ kicked in: if I couldn’t find the same type of course I wanted to do I would begin my own.

What I loved about burlesque was how fun and silly it could be as well as sensual. One of the classes I attended in London left a student on the brink of tears throughout class. She clearly didn’t feel comfortable. My ethos became to create a space where people could feel comfortable to explore, learn and most importantly have fun!
I began by teaching friends and friends of friends in kitchens and living rooms. Enough people expressed an interest in doing a course with me which ended in a showcase. The Little Mistress course was born in February 2011. What started as as a 6 week course with no pressure to perform in the final showcase then evolved into Luscious Cabaret with a beginners & intermediate burlesque course alongside monthly (and at one point weekly) cabaret nights.

In 2020 I had begun a weekly drop-in class. Ultimately a fun weekly dance class. This was more focused on traditional burlesque music and an introduction to the ‘Wonderful World of Burlesque!’ When covid hit I decided to develop this class and added a new online class. Burlesque Rocks was born. This class to be honest was a little more for me. I’ve always loved a bit of rock music, growing up in the 80’s & 90’s I loved Guns ’n’ Roses, Nirvana, Suede, Pulp & Skunk Anansie. While studying Music GSCE I had my mind opened to 50’s & 60’s music like The Doors, Elvis, Jimi Hendricks and many psychedelic rock classics. I developed an eclectic taste in rock.
Burlesque Rocks quickly became my favourite class to teach. The students enjoy the musical ride and the power of burlesque. Some weeks we can be goofy with boas/scarfs (whatever is to hand) and some weeks we can be sexy, focusing on bump and grind techniques. As I say ultimately you’ll be dancing around to some awesome music and throwing some pretty powerful and sensual shapes.
In 2021 I decided to close down Luscious Cabaret. The dedicated online burlesque rockers wanted me to carry on so who was I to argue? Every Thursday from 7pm we rock!

A bit more about me…

My stage name is Little Lady Luscious. As a performer I developed more character & storyline based routines. Just peeling and removing my clothes wasn’t enough for me, there had to be a story. From a mistreated librarian, to a ballet dancing tardis,I discovered I loved to play with story to create a fun and entertaining acts.
I performed regularly at my own nights: Luscious Cabaret, Luscious Privee, A Little Cabaret & A Little Bag of Cabaret. And venues across London which included; Madame Jojo’s, The Century Club, The Cavendish Arms, The RVT, Privee Knightsbridge and Through the looking glass Club. My most successful act was ‘Getting Dressed’, inspired by my ability to be distracted and needing to get ready and be out of the door within 3 mins.

I began teaching classes and building a cabaret company in 2011. Alongside this I was performing and developing as an artist myself.
The last time I performed was at my farewell show in December 2021 where I decided to rock. Little Lady Luscious may return or the tassels may remain hung up.
